Wilmington is a port city and the county seat of New Hanover County in coastal southeastern, North Carolina. It is the 8th most populous city in the state of NC. The City was founded in the 1730s, and after going through a couple of different names (New Carthage, New London, and Newton) its name became Wilmington in 1740.The City has a total area of 41.5 square miles. 41 square miles is land and 0.5 square miles is water. |
