The guide wanted to take the
two RV Gypsies and Karen Duquette's sister, Ilse Blahak, on a long hike
to the other side of the lake where they would actually climb up sheets
of ice such as the one shown here, but they said they would rather just
walk and explore more of the less strenuous areas. |

The two RV Gypsies UNDER a layer of ice on Matanuska Glacier |

Below: Diversified
scenery on the glacier: Deep holes with blue water far below and small
stones covering a blue layer of ice. |
|
|
Below: Karen Duquette was
intrigued by this big split in the glacier ice and the water flowing
through it. |

|
Below: The guide and Karen
Duquette put some of the glacier mud on their face and hands because
it is said to be good for the skin. Then they had to wash their face
and hands in some icy cold glacier water. Ilse and Lee declined the
offer to do so. |

Below: Back towards the
parking lot, a resident bird sat on its private perch. |
