August 20 - 21, 2013 The two RV Gypsies
made a stopover at Kennebec KOA in Lyman County, South Dakota. (should
have been one day only, but oh well). When they arrived, they were the
only RV in the park, but a few others came in later.
The campground had cable TV and Wi-Fi internet. Check-out time was
10:30 A.M. (That was the earliest the two RV Gypsies have had to ever check
out at, so far at least).
If you wash your RV in the campground, there was a $75.00 fine enforced.
Ouch!. Glad the two RV Gypsies did not wash their RV here.
There was a swimming pool, a kiddie pool, and a home-style above-ground
hot tub that would be very uncomfortable with more than two people in
it at the same time, unless you wanted to be very friendly with the
other people. The two RV Gypsies did not use any of these amenities.
The closest McDonald's was 35 miles away (glad the two RV Gypsies
do not eat fast food anyway).
The closest Walmart was 65 miles away.
After 6 p.m. (5 p.m. on Saturdays or all day Sundays) the nearest grocery
is 30 miles away.
Bathrooms were closed 10:30 A.M. until noon daily. (The two RV Gypsies
only use their own bathroom in their own RV). Laundry was open 24 hours.
The campground booklet says it is always windy here with a average daily high wind of 25 mph, but the wind can be 75 mph. The temperature here ranges from -40F to +110 F. The average rainfall is 18 inches and it all comes on holiday weekends. (or so the booklet says - but it rained during the time the two RV Gypsies were here and that was during the week). |
