August 16, 2012 - The two RV Gypsies, Lee
and Karen Duquette, drove on CR-1668 Burr Trail Road to see fantastic
scenery and a slot canyon. |

Below: More beautiful scenery while driving, and views
from a few over-looks. |

Below: Close-up photos of the right and left sides of
the road shown in the panorama above. |
Below: Lee Duquette stopped the truck at a pull-out
because Karen Duquette liked the stripes in the mountain and wanted
photographs. There was no other vehicle traffic in the park at that
time. |
Then, looking left, Lee Duquette spotted a path and
decided to see what other great scenery could be seen there. It looked
like a short, easy path with just a slight incline downward. |
A minute later, Lee Duquette looked up and was amazed
at how tall the mountain cliff was. |
Below: A few steps around the tree (shown
in the above photo) and Karen Duquette just had to take close-up photos
of the mountain. |

Below: Such unbelievable beauty just a short distance
from the side of the road, yet Lee Duquette almost drove by this area
without seeing it. |
Below: Karen Duquette enjoyed taking close-up photos
of the mountain and all its crevices, so she was surprised once again,
when she saw that this was actually a slot canyon. To realize how tall
these cliffs are, notice how tiny the people in the below photo appear
to be. |
Below: Because the ground was so smooth and level, Karen
Duquette decided to go further into the slot canyon, which did not look
very deep. |
Below: Just a short walk between the trees (shown in
the photos above), and then Karen and Lee Duquette Gypsies were at the
end of the slot canyon, looking up and being amazed at how tall the
slot cave is. |
Below: Time to drive on
and see more of the Grand Staircase-Escalante. |
Below: At the next pull-off, Lee Duquette took the below
photo. Then Lee heard Karen Duquette telling him to come and be
amazed at the scenery on the other side of the road. |
Both
Lee and Karen Duquette were in total awe of the scenery. The last (red)
photo on this page shows the road leading down into the valley.
