Hinton is located
in northeastern Caddo County at an elevation 1,676 feet. The town limits
extend north from the settled part of town 4 miles along U.S. Route
281 to Interstate 40 at Exit 101, from which it is 49 miles east to
the center of Oklahoma City. According to the United States Census Bureau,
the town of Hinton has a total area of 3.1 square miles all land. Red
Rock Canyon is full of beautiful scenery and brightly colored red rocks.
The campground area was quiet and peaceful. |

Below: As Lee Duquette drove
the RV down the steep and winding road, Karen Duquette took a few photos.
At first the road did not seem too narrow, except on the curves that
limited on-coming views. But the roads were a lot more narrow than it
appears in these photos. Lee Duquette was glad that they did not meet
any RV or car leaving. Actually RV's only come and go at certain times,
so meeting an RV probably would not happen, unless one had to leave
at an unusual time. And cars usually yield to RVs. |

relax and breathe a sigh of relief as the two RV Gypsies reached the
bottom of the entrance road in their RV. |

Below: The first view of the
two RV Gypsies parking spot. There was no Wi-Fi, no TV and no sewer
at this campground, but they did have 50 amp hook-up which is the most
important thing to the two RV Gypsies. They paid $64 for two nights.
As shown below, they had a nice back-in site with trees, wide pavement
and a big, long red rock behind the RV for scenery. (Anything is subject
to change as time passes). |

Before Parking,
Lee Duquette always surveys the site and Karen Duquette takes a few
photos of the site. Two RV Gypsies knew they would enjoy the view behind
their RV at Red Rock Canyon State Park. Yet, they seldom stay in their
RV except to sleep and they seldom sit around the campsite either. They
are not big on camping, but enjoy the convenience of an RV over hotels,
because then Karen does not have to pack and unpack and they always
have their own food, kitchen, and bed. Below Is a view from the back
and from the front of the RV. |

 |
Below: After checking out
the site, Lee Duquette went back into the RV while Karen Duquette stayed
outside to watch that the top of the RV cleared the big tree limb that
overhung the site. She also gives precise, clear hand signals to Lee
so he knows when to stop as he is backing into the site. Karen always
laughs when the wives are yelling signals to their husband
instead of using pre-determined hand signals. |
