Castillo San Felipe del Morro, also known as El Morro, is a citadel built between the 16th and 18th centuries in San Juan, Puerto Rico. It is named in honor of King Phillip II of Spain. The fortification was designed to guard the entrance to the San Juan Bay and defend the Spanish colonial port city of San Juan from seaborne enemies.
