The Two RV Gypsies: Full-Time RVers
went on an Alaska Backcountry ATV Adventure Tour

June 13, 2009
Alaska's backcountry beauty is beyond compare. This tour took the two RV Gypsies on an 8-hour day trip to an untamed frontier of glacial wonder and amazement. The guide carried a gun in case there is danger from wildlife. Luckily he did not need to use it.

The two RV Gypsies decided to ride together so that Karen Duquette could take still pictures and movie pictures while Lee Duquette drove the ATV.

the beginning into the backcountry of Alaska
The first water they went through, the ATV stalled and the two RV Gypsies had to be towed out of the water by their guide. However, they were able to continue their adventure. While stalled, the ATV was slightly tipped, and the water was about to overflow onto Karen Duquette's seat - this is all on the movie film. But she does not know how to post it. What a great beginning.

The river below had to be crossed in order to get to the glacier. However, due to heavy rain on the previous evening, the river was NOT crossable on this date, so the group never reached the glacier, although they continued to try in several different spots.

Alaska's backcountry beauty is beyond compare. Although no wildlife was seen on this journey, and the Knik Glacier was unreachable, it was still a wonderful and unforgettable experience. That is why the two RV Gypsies returned to this area on July 24th because they really wanted to get to the Knik Glacier (and they did).

(Note: However in 2016, the two RV Gypsies returned here for a third time and brought three family members for the tour. They had a different guide, who in the opinion of the two RV Gypsies, was negligent and Karen Duquette had an extremely bad ATV accident.

All ATV rides can be reached through the TOC button at the top of any page and choosing the letter A.)
