Below: Karen Duquette snapped this picture
from the moving car. It was not located where the two RV Gypsies could
stop to investigate it, so they are not sure what the monument is about. |

Below: The monument and fountain shown
below is located in the middle of the junction of Russell Street, and
Riverside Drive, across from Edisto Memorial Gardens. The Fountain was
erected as a memorial to those who gave their lives in the service of
our country in World War II and the Korean Conflict. |

Below: This Veterans Memorial features a 25 foot high obelisk, six
granite sections representing the branches of service, and granite plaques
identifying the wars in which our country has been engaged in. Nine
flags grace the park, representing the United States, the state of South
Carolina, the six branches of service, and the POW/MIA’S. Also, located
in the park are six granite naming panels recognizing those individuals
from Orangeburg County that made the ultimate sacrifice while serving
our country in times of war. Memorial bricks are available for purchase
to honor our veterans. |
